February 7, 2011 Day 252 of Year long Journey

I have lost five pounds since my last posting. 200.8 pounds I have sixteen more weeks to lose twenty three pounds to be not technically obese. I will fit in the overweight category.
My daily green smoothie made in a fourteen cup Cusinart food processor has the following four ingredients:
1. 2 cups spinach, 1 cup kale, 2 cuts mixed spring greens, 1 romaine heart, 1 cup raw broccoli, arugula
2. (Pick two from the following list): Frozen and diced, apple, ½ cup frozen blueberries, cup pineapple, I banana, peaches, pear, raspberries.
3. Vanilla soy milk, Greek yogurt, other yogurts.
Blend them for one minute, pour in glass and enjoy with a straw.
This has been a great addition to my diet since I purchased the food processor.
I have been tracking my food daily using dietpower.
I am planning to use the ‘Couch to 5K run” app. I walked three miles today. After having surgery, I am easing back into exercise.
I will make my goal of 178 before or on day 365. I will not make the stretch goal of 150 pounds that would make me barely normal weight. Of course that is my goal once the 178 goal is completed. I will divide that goal in groups of ten pounds, then ten pounds, then eight pounds.

January 15, 2011 Day 231 of Year long Journey

I weigh 206 pounds now. I have lost nineteen pounds in thirty weeks. This is two-thirds a pound a week. My initial goal is to become overweight, one hundred and seventy nine pounds, from obese. That means I must lose twenty seven pounds in twenty one weeks. That means I must lose one pound and one-third a pound each week. My stretch goal of normal weight will not be obtained by day 365 of my year long journey. I am an analytical person. Losing the total weight of my initial goal of forty six pounds will be an A, 100%. If I lose only forty two pounds, that will be a B.

I have focused more on eating healthy and tracking my food. I love my food processor used to make green smoothies most days. If I drink two green smoothies, diet power gives me an A plus in nutrition for the day. I have been at the gym three or four times a week for an hour of strenuous exercise. I even got back on wii fit after two years. I am looking forward to a long healthier life.

January 5, 2011 Day 221 of Year long Journey

As a dear friend of mine told me, this is the biggest engineering project of my life to get a healthy body. I increased me efforts to lose weight quicker. I have used dietpower for the last three days. I have been around 1300 calories burning 500 to 800 calories at the gym. I have lost three pounds this year to two hundred and nine pounds.
I have twenty weeks left to lose fifty one pounds. This means I must work out two hours at the gym and keep my calories to 1300 to lose forty pounds at the end of this year. I will definitely consider that a success. I admit this has been difficult, putting the fork down.
It appears that my stomach has shrunken. I was only hungry for about an hour yesterday before lunch. I was stuffed after dinner of beef stew. Bringing boxes of wine is off the list for a while.

January 1, 2011 Day 217 of Year long Journey

I weigh 212 pounds, body fat 46%. I survived the holidays even the week long gluttonous feast at work. There were crock pots cooking all day and decadent treats. I plan to take the feast week off next year. My normal weight of 160 appears a bit more difficult to achieve. Fifty two pounds in twenty one weeks. I will accept losing twenty one pounds in twenty one weeks.

The shorter days helps me in eating only two meals a day. I will rev up the exercise when the days are longer.
Since I have been traveling for the last two weeks, it did not help my diet at much as when I’m home drinking green smoothies. Here I come Costco to get giant sized greens and produce.

November 22, 2010 Day 177 of Year long Journey

I weigh 213 pounds, body fat 47%. I am a bit depressed the last couple of days. I drank my calories mostly in wine this weekend. I was about to google on what will make me have energy and get out of bed. I did not get around to it. I did get around to buying my first good food processor. I make my first green smoothie last night with it, heart of romaine lettuce, cup of fresh pineapple, one fuji apple and a cup of fat free Greek yogurt. It was ok, but not cold like I want my drinks.

This morning, I made my green smoothie with frozen banana chunks instead of the apple. It was actually good. I need to buy straws to top off my green smoothies each day. I do feel I have more energy than the last few days.

My cooler has African stew and a skinless sautéed chicken breast.

I hope I have the willpower to stop at the gym I own and drive past each day after work.

I have twenty five and a half more weeks to lose the more fifty pounds I set as my goal. I am not ready to change it just yet. I can lose two pounds per week, cut 500 calories and exercise 500 calories must be doable.

I know I have not lost net weight since a month ago. I hope the green smoothies save me.

November 5, 2010 Day 160 of Year long Journey

My food cooler for the day has steel oatmeal, six half walnuts and 100 calories of organic raisins for sweetening. I have already had an 2 egg white, 2 egg omelet with one ounce of extra sharp cheddar cheese fried in one teaspoon of butter. I will have the oatmeal in about two hours from now. Lunch is a delicious spicy pinto beans with brown rice. Next time I will omit the rice. I do not care for it. I do love beans. Snacks in the cooler are yogurt, banana and small apple. Yesterday I went to the gym spent 25 minutes on treadmill, 22 minutes on elliptical for three miles. Today after work, I will take the body pump class and later yoga. Yoga is my favorite. I get so relaxed I have fallen asleep at the end. I have not weight myself in a few days. I feel I am at the same weight last posting two hundred and ten pounds. I am looking forward to starting my weight with a one. I realize vegetables can so much more flavor than meat. Feeling good!

October 29, 2010 Day 154 of Year long Journey

I lost three pounds since last posting. I weight two hundred and ten pounds. The young women engineers starting at work and have encouraged me to work out at the gym every day after work. Yesterday I did body pump and yoga. I am eating so healthy. I do not have time to cook like “You on a diet” suggests. I have only healthy food in the house, so I am encouraged to eat healthy. I have so much more energy. I look forward to losing the next forty nine pounds to get to my year long goal.
